No entendimento mais restrito, est\u00e1 associada principalmente \u00e0s tradi\u00e7\u00f5es crist\u00e3 e judaica. Por\u00e9m, na interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o mais ampla \u00e9 chamada de m\u00fasica religiosa e inclui outros cultos e cren\u00e7as, como as religi\u00f5es orientais (budismo, islamismo, sikkismo, entre outros).<\/p>\n<p>Muito antiga, a m\u00fasica sacra mescla instrumentos musicais com canto e tem o objetivo de elevar a alma (e o cora\u00e7\u00e3o) de quem escuta. Al\u00e9m disso, grandes compositores criaram obras com n\u00edtida influ\u00eancia dessa vertente, como Bach, Handel, Mozart e Haydn. Quer saber mais sobre esse estilo, que marcou a idade m\u00e9dia, a m\u00fasica cl\u00e1ssica e que continua popular em pleno s\u00e9culo XXI?<\/p>\n<h2>Hist\u00f3ria: como surgiu?<\/h2>\n<p>No sentido abrangente, a hist\u00f3ria da m\u00fasica sacra mistura-se \u00e0 pr\u00f3pria hist\u00f3ria das civiliza\u00e7\u00f5es. Mas no sentido limitado, ela remete especificamente \u00e0 Idade M\u00e9dia, uma \u00e9poca na qual a Igreja Cat\u00f3lica exercia dom\u00ednio sobre as leis, a moral e a cultura da sociedade. Consequentemente, a m\u00fasica que se praticava era a m\u00fasica crist\u00e3 \u2013 com raras exce\u00e7\u00f5es de estilos bo\u00eamios cantados nas ruas.<\/p>\n<p>O interessante desse per\u00edodo, para quem gosta de m\u00fasica cl\u00e1ssica, \u00e9 que foi nesse momento que surgiu a necessidade de se criar uma teoria musical \u2013 ap\u00f3s s\u00e9culos desde os primeiros passos dos gregos da Antiguidade nesse sentido \u2013 voltada para as missas e ritos de adora\u00e7\u00e3o. Mas sem um sistema escrito para denotar o tom ou o comprimento de uma nota, a execu\u00e7\u00e3o da m\u00fasica era variada.<\/p>\n<h2>Principais vertentes<\/h2>\n<p>O resultado foi o surgimento da primeira vertente da m\u00fasica sacra que se tem relatos, o canto gregoriano, que \u00e9 marcado pela voz humana e pelo canto lit\u00fargico, raramente com acompanhamento de instrumentos.<\/p>\n<p>O termo \u00e9 uma homenagem ao papa Greg\u00f3rio Magno, que viveu no s\u00e9culo VI e sistematizou todos os cantos eclesi\u00e1sticos de sua \u00e9poca, para ent\u00e3o distribui-los \u00e0s igrejas europeias e unificar a celebra\u00e7\u00e3o da missa crist\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>Com isso, os cantos gregorianos propagaram-se no velho continente, assim como escolas de m\u00fasica para monges e freiras, que passaram a compor livremente can\u00e7\u00f5es inspiradoras e espirituais, sendo a freira beneditina Hildegarda de Bingen um dos destaques do s\u00e9culo XI.<\/p>\n<p>Uma das grandes contribui\u00e7\u00f5es do canto gregoriano para a m\u00fasica foi o sistema de nota\u00e7\u00e3o musical de quatro linhas (tetragrama), onde eram anotadas as neumas.<\/p>\n<p>Outra forma de manifesta\u00e7\u00e3o da m\u00fasica sacra \u00e9 o R\u00e9quiem, tamb\u00e9m conhecido como a missa para os mortos. Compositores famosos inclu\u00edram obras Requiem em seus legados, como Palestrina, Haendl (Judas Maccabaeus HWV 63) Mozart (R\u00e9quiem em R\u00e9 menor, KV 626), Brahms (Ein Deutsches Requiem, Op. 45), Bach (Magnificat \u2013 BWV 243), Verdi, Stravinsky e Andrew Lloyd Webber.<\/p>\n<p>O moteto tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 um estilo de m\u00fasica sacra. Bastante caracter\u00edstico do Renascimento, baseia-se na polifonia, que \u00e9 um fen\u00f4meno \u00e9 caracterizado por m\u00faltiplas linhas mel\u00f3dicas, com duas vozes ou mais, cada qual com um ritmo pr\u00f3prio. Durante toda a Idade M\u00e9dia, a m\u00fasica era predominantemente monof\u00f4nica, e no final de s\u00e9c. XV a polifonia tornou-se bastante popular.
